Victoria, Australia: Brief Update - Steven Unthank is still Acting Prosecutor, etc.
by AndersonsInfo incourt hearing results for december 6, 2011:.
steven unthank is still the acting prosecutor (and that's why he could not comment on the case on the"dialogue" program), and all 5 cases are still before the courts.
the crown informed the court that the office of public prosecutions are "acting as a facilitator at the moment"; and that the police investigation is "quite well progressed"; and that the police are awaiting response from the department of justice.. .

Try using firefox or Google chrome to post.
Compatibility with IE would be a really great development IMO.

My Husband's Kids Have Cut Him Off
by headisspinning inwell, my husband's worst fear has happened.
he told his kids, ages 15 and 10 that he was coming to visit them over the holidays.
his ex-wife limits his telephone contact to one call per week, so when he called them last week to arrange the specific days he would see them, his son told him that he got baptized back in september and would no longer be willing to see his father.. this came as a complete shock.

he could insist on his right to see them but what may be more effective is showing them unconditional love. Telling them his door will always be open to them. As teenagers they are bound to go through periods of questioning and doubt.

JW's and Chronic Fatigue Syndrone!
by cornish inchronic fatigue syndrone, m e, yuppie flu.
.
i dont know if anyone else has noticed the alarming number of jws who claim to suffer from chronic fatigue syndrone,i mean hear in cornwall there tend to be several sufferers in every congregation, outside the jws out of the many people i know i dont know anyone, although there are obviosly many outside the jws who suffer this illness, percentage wise it seems that jws have a much, much larger occorance of the illness.. for example my brother in law has not worked and been living on invalidity benefits for more than 10 years since his mid twenties, his brother is also in the same boat, an m.e sufferer.. i wonder if anyone has looked into this a bit more?

Fibromyalgia is now a recognised condition in the UK. M.E is myalgic encephalomyelitis, basically the same as CFS (chronic fatigue).

Not sure if I'm reading this correctly but has the Crown taken the cases over or not?

Recent C.O. visit: Bad news re: U.S. English meeting attendance
by Open mind invisiting a nearby town during his thursday night service talk mentioned how poor meeting attendance is in the english-speaking u.s. congregations.
he said that when the gb reduced the weekly meetings from 3 to 2, there was a brief surge in meeting attendance percentages.
after a few months it began to slide and it hasn't stopped sliding.

LOL3rdgen. When I was a child our family would have blazing rows on the way to the hall, usually due to a combination of the pressure of everyone being forced to rush around and do something they didn't really want to. The funniest part is that as soon as the car door opened in the KH call park, we would be all smiles and sweetness and light. At the end of the meeting, we'd all pile back in the car and the row would recommence exactly where we had left off 2+ hours before.

I think the real test will be the next major blunder during the internet age. If 1975 or even the generation change of '95 had occurred after 2000, the impact would have been far greater IMO.

Journal of Philosophical Psychology cites JWs as an example of a self-validating belief system
by slimboyfat ina recent article in the journal of philosophical psychology titled: 'how convenient!
the epistemic rationale of self-validating belief systems' by maarten boudry says that one of the defense mechanisms of self-validating belief systems is "multiple endpoints and moving targets" and cites jws to illustrate the point.
here are the sections that discuss jws:.

While the world stood still with tears and sorrow....
by Terry inon friday, november 22, 1963, i was in high school in the cafeteria in fort worth, texas sitting at a table filled with school chums.. my jehovah's witness buddy, johnny, was back from shaking john f. kennedy's hand in front of his hotel earlier that morning.. he and his family were (oddly) big fans of jfk.
go figure.... .
not less than ten minutes later the speakers in the cafeteria crackled to life and the principle, g.b.trimble announced that president kennedy.

I was a believing JW on 9/11 but I was deeply troubled by the reaction of my 'brothers and sisters'. We went to the book study on the evening of 9/11 and people were talking about how nice the weather was for September/the price of beans...you get the picture. Anything except the shocking things we had seen on the TV. The ONLY mention made was when the study conductor mentioned 'our brothers in New York' in his prayer. I was quietly disgusted that these people were so wrapped up in day to day stuff that something like 9/11 had barely registered with them.
